On November 2, 2009, the government passed the Resident’s Bill of Rights Amendment Act. Vinge adheres to these rights both as a policy but also as part of daily living best practice.
Prior to being admitted into any program, each individual will be informed of his/her rights in a method and communication system that will be the most meaningful to the individual.
If the individual is a minor, then the company will request the legal guardian to be present during presentation of rights. If the individual is 18 years of age or older, then they may decide who, if anyone, will be present during the presentation of their rights.
The individual rights are as follows:
- Every individual is to be valued and treated as a person
- Every individual will be respected and treated with dignity
- Every individual will have their spiritual, cultural, age, gender, sexual orientation, language, socioeconomic status and personal beliefs respected
- Every individual will be involved in the conversations and activities regarding their life
